"It is with great pleasure and honour that I participate in this Muhabbet—a significant contribution to the historiography of Chios and Rhodes and to the study of foundations and libraries in the Ottoman Empire with an introduction to a truly precious Ottoman manuscript library in Rhodes through the insights of esteemed scholars, distinguished professors, and leading researchers. Participating in such a prestigious scholarly endeavor has been both a privilege and a deeply rewarding experience, not least by getting to know my fellow islander Şemsinur, who was a Chiotissa when she was born. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to collaborate with the initiator of the Muhabbet, Tarık Tüten, whose professionalism, dedication, and thoughtful guidance greatly enhanced the making of the volume. His unwavering commitment to excellence was evident throughout every stage of the project. I sincerely thank Tarık for his trust and support, as well as my fellow collaborators for the enriching exchange of ideas."
