Our mission today as we undertake work for the new profile and trajectory of the Foundation, established by Hafız Ahmed Agha over 230 years ago, is to sustain the cultural heritage passed from one generation to the next without ignoring the changing needs of our times and the availability of technologies that can make our work and the riches of the Library recognized and appreciated.

Fulfilling the Founder’s Charter and accommodating traditions to the extent possible to today’s realities and context is a priority. We are also committed to make our rare manuscript collection accessible to the public and conserve it at the same time to make sure we can pass the heritage safely to future generations in Rhodes and on both sides of the Aegean.

While assuming ownership for the legacy of the Foundation in Rhodes and in Istanbul, and being well aware that a common history and a common cultural heritage are shared values of humanity, we will strive to develop mindful projects that would transcend borders and make our mission visible in the region and beyond.
